260 SEMINARIANS, ONE MISSION: BUILDING A CHURCH FREE FROM SGBV

by CSN MEDIA

What does it take to build a safer Church? For 260 seminarians at St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi, the conversation began with awareness, questions and a commitment to understanding Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

On 13 October 2026, the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) brought its SGBV awareness and prevention training to the seminary. Welcomed by the Rector, Rev. Fr. Simeon Iber, the seminarians engaged actively with all six training modules, asking questions and seeking deeper understanding of the issues discussed.

Through this engagement, CSN continues to encourage future Church leaders to become informed voices in preventing abuse, upholding human dignity and promoting safer communities.

Ending SGBV begins with awareness. Building a safer Church begins with all of us
