It is with a deep sense of loss, yet with hearts full of gratitude to Almighty God for a life exceptionally well-lived, that the Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), Archdiocese of Benin City, pays tribute to an irreplaceable icon, Lady Kate Okwechime.
Lady Kate was a veteran journalist, media guru, and a legendary broadcaster whose voice and presence on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Benin inspired millions. Her career was a masterclass in professionalism, integrity, and passion for the broadcast craft.
Beyond her stellar career, she was a mother in every true sense of the word—generous, immensely caring, and profoundly loving. Her kindness touched everyone who crossed her path.
As a devout Catholic Faith Communicator, she effortlessly blended her professional excellence with her Catholic faith, using her rich experience to advance the work of evangelization through the media.
To us at CAMPAN, Archdiocese of Benin City, Lady Kate was a pillar of support. She was not just an active and dedicated member, but a committed financial pillar whose selflessness and dedication constantly urged us forward.
Her devotion to the association, her warm counsel, and her unwavering presence will be sorely missed.
Though her passing leaves a vast void in our hearts and in the media landscape, we take solace in the scripture that assures us of eternal life for those who sleep in the Lord.
May the Good Lord grant her noble soul eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom, and may He comfort her family, friends, and all of us left behind to cherish her memory.
